Community

Our focus statement at TRMC is, “Being Christ’s Community in
Changing and Challenging Times.” These words continue to
offer an accurate portrayal of who we are, where we’ve come
from, and what may lie ahead.
Finding a faithful path to trod as times and challenges change
can become heavy, a weight to carry, a duty to be saddled with.
Conversely, finding that path can be hopeful, exciting, and can
allow us to be energized by the shifting realities in our
congregation, our community, and our globe. How we
understood being Christs community a decade or ten ago has
changed, has new priorities and responsibilities. However, as
disciples of Christ, we remain rooted in the lesson of
compassion and inclusion, as directed by the Great
Commandment.
TRMC folks find themselves at a time when we are a smaller
congregation. In that reality, we recognize and find ways to
respond to the needs in the larger community in which we exist.
What does it mean to love God, to love others as ourselves?
What does it mean to care for God’s creation? How will it look,
in these days, to respond to the leper, the hungry, the hurting?
With God’s help, may those questions energize TRMC to be that
holy community, passionate and honoured to be the hands, feet,
and ears of Christ.
